Being a part of the Kids for Kaga exchange program is a fantastic opportunity for personal growth. You'll get to travel, dive into Japanese culture, and make lasting friendships, all while building independence.
This adventure also requires you to be an active participant. You'll need to be open and welcoming to a visitor in your home. To get the most out of this experience, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone—whether that means trying new foods, meeting new people, or adjusting to life in Japan.
The experience of participating in a cultural exchange can also be a standout addition to your resume, potentially opening up future opportunities you might never have imagined. Additionally, since we are a not-for-profit organization, you can receive community service hours when hosting (see below for details).
Being well prepared to travel in Japan will help you feel more confident and make the experience more enjoyable. It is important that you attend the monthly meetings to learn about Japanese culture, language and etiquette. In these meetings, you will get to know the other Canadian participants and work together to prepare for events such as the opening and closing ceremonies in Kaga.
